With general managerial oversight, the Senior Account position will: assist in booking General Ledger transactions, reconciliations of financial records within the ERP system (SAP), preparation of Journal Entries and preparation of audit documentation; assist in preparing month-end P&L comparisons, sales, inventory reporting / analysis, preparation of balance sheet comparisons, and preparing ad hoc reporting for Corporate requests; and assist with financial postings for our Canada legal entity. Other duties include:   product divestitures/acquisitions support, data requests for tax preparation, ad hoc support for special projects, managing accounts receivable and leading discussions with our 3PLs in the US and Canada. The Senior Accountant will also work with our external auditors during interim and year-end assignments.


  • Prepares complex Journal Entries for a timely and accurate month-end / year-end close (including posting of Alliance entries for US and Canada)
  • Summarizes data for work papers in a well-organized format which is auditor ready to justify major movements in the P&L and Balance Sheet
  • Calculates balances and prepare work papers for asset and liabilities that routinely require appropriate judgment
  • Reviews work papers and standard journal entries for accuracy in posting
  • Creates P&L and Balance Sheet comparisons @ month end for all legal entities
  • Researches and resolves account variances to ensure accurate presentation of financial statements
  • Prepares and coordinates with other team members for commentary for significant fluctuations
  • Issues management reports monthly which highlight trends, contract compliance, details of asset values (for example inventory, AR), completeness of accruals
  • Meets with Lundbeck managers to outline any new business processes and identify related accounting support necessary
  • Reviews month end accruals to insure completeness and accuracy
  • Keeps management abreast of any new regulations and additional reporting requirements and recommend solutions
  • Conducts technical research on accounting and tax business scenarios or changes to global standards, subject matter expert of Corporate Accounting Manual
  • Meets auditor deadlines and actively communicates with auditors to provide responses on work paper calculations and supporting documentation with clear, concise, accurate feedback and rapid turnaround
  • Reconciles sales and manages AR with third party partners including direct sale customers (including review and monitoring of customer credit limits)
  • Assists, monitors, and evaluates AR Aging / collection for all partners, including coordination efforts with third party providers: SPS (US) and Accuristix (Canada)
  • Ensures system integration alignment for the daily sales feed (SAP to external support)
  • Follows-up with team for issues / challenges regarding daily sales for US and Canada legal entities
  • Actively communicates / leads discussions with Company’s 3PLs in US and Canada
  • Handles aspects of inventory, including reconciliation of third party inventory reports to the GL and   coordination with the Supply Chain team for reconciliation completeness and accuracy of data
  • Analyzes, reviews and validates testing for Lundbeck’s return provision (US & Canada)
  • Posts Canadian Medicine Tax Accrual (including verification of accrual appropriateness vs. actual)
  • Prepares and posts Distribution Fee Accrual for Canada and US Wholesaler and Specialty Pharmacies
  • Prepares external reporting for organizations involved in royalty arrangements


  • Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Sciences degree from an accredited college or university
  • CPA certified
  • 2+ years of accounting experience in public accounting or corporate audit
  • Outstanding organization and communication skills, with ability to multi-task
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel (sort/filter, Pivot table, and V-Look-up)
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Proven analytical skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and provide deliverables timely
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and proactively communicate with manager and key business partners


  • 5+ years of accounting experience
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Accountancy
  • Experience with SAP accounting software
  • Pharmaceutical industry or manufacturing experience


  • Willingness/Ability to travel up to 10% domestically. International travel may be required.
