So, you’ve decided that you’re interested in the Brain Battle and are wondering what the criteria are for joining the competition. Are you wondering what it takes for you to be the candidate we’re looking for?

To know if this is the right competition for you, ask yourself: Are you

  1.  Interested in neuroscience, drug development and science communication?
  2. An MSc student or graduate from any Danish University or Lund University with a MSc project in the broad field of neuroscience?
  3. Able to start the PhD no later than December 2024?
  4. Able to attend the presentation training days on April 3rd and 17th (11 AM – 2 PM), the Brain Battle finale on April 26th and attend an in-person interview at Lundbeck headquarters in Valby during February or March 2024?

If your answer to these four questions is a resounding “YES!”, then you’re the candidate we are looking for! For the 2024 competition we have projects available within preclinical in vitro and in vivo research.

Why participate?

If you are interested in neuroscience, drug development and science communication this is a great opportunity. You not only have the chance to win a fully funded scholarship for an industrial PhD at Lundbeck, you will also sharpen your scientific communication skills through two 3-hour presentation training sessions with a professional coach. In the first session, you will get the tools to prepare your presentation and learn the basic theories behind a good presentation. Topics include body language, how to start on a strong note and how to connect and relate to your audience. In the second session, you will have the opportunity to practice on stage and get direct feedback on your Brain Battle presentation from the coach.
