The CDP, an international NGO which works to prevent climate change and protect our natural resources, has awarded Lundbeck a position on the prominent ‘A List’ of their CDP Climate Performance Leadership Index (CPLI). The index includes companies worldwide that have been assessed and identified as demonstrating a superior performance in mitigating climate change.
Data from nearly 2000 companies have been independently evaluated and ranked against CDP’s widely-respected scoring methodology but only 187 companies, of which just seven represent the health care sector, made the list. The qualification of Lundbeck to the A list is based on overall energy performance in regard to climate change mitigation, adaptation and transparency.
‘Entering the A List is a great recognition of our efforts to minimize our impact on the environment’ says Lars Bang, Group Senior Vice President of Supply Operations & Engineering. ‘We have worked systematically and with determination to reduce our environmental footprint, and last year, we achieved a reduction of our CO2 emissions by 8.5% compared to the year before, even though we increased our volume of production during that same period of time. Our integration of energy reduction as part of daily maintenance and work on projects means that we continuously spot new opportunities for reductions. We are currently two years ahead of schedule in relation to our long term goal of reducing CO2 emissions by 40% over a ten year period from 2006 to 2016.’
Disclosure to CDP’s climate programme is at the request of 767 investors who represent more than a third of the world’s invested capital and CDP scores are communicated to investors and other decision makers through various channels as a tool to track and assess corporate action to mitigate climate change.
In addition to qualifying for the CDP A list, Lundbeck was also awarded a position on the Nordic Climate Disclosure Leadership Index (CDLI) which highlights companies providing a high level of transparency in their disclosure of climate-related information.
