Lundbeck Research China is the first H. Lundbeck A/S (Lundbeck) research center in Asia. Having own presence in China's blooming research environment, Lundbeck aims to substantially increase its opportunities for entering into research partnerships with pharmaceutical, biotech companies and universities in China and the rest of Asia. Lundbeck Research China supplements Lundbeck's research centers in Europe and USA, thus completing the company's global platform for research alliances.
The establishment of a research facility in China is part of Lundbeck's overall R&D strategy, which aims to enable the discovery and development of new medicines that target the underlying mechanisms of brain disorders and thus not only treat the symptoms more effectively but also alter the course of the disease. The strategy requires comprehensive research about the brain and its disease biology and mechanisms, and Lundbeck aims to solve this task by further increasing the number of its external research collaborations, engaging key opinion leaders and reaching out to neuroscience research communities.
Lundbeck Research China is officially opened on the 26th of October 2011. The research center is dedicated to the novel drug discovery with initial emphasis on medicinal chemistry, biology, drug metabolism and pharmacokinetics and toxicology. The research facility is located in Shanghai, which has a strong medical science tradition and is one of China’s most powerful clusters of pharmaceutical groups, leading universities and biomedical research institutes.
