Making a Difference

According to World Health Organization (WHO), more than 700 million people live with psychiatric and neurological diseases globally. In China, it is estimated that over 100 million patients are affected and the burden is increasing with the development of society and aging population.

Psychiatric and neurological diseases are life-threatening diseases that significantly affect the quality of life of the patients as well as of their relatives. These diseases also involve major socioeconomic costs, and it is imperative for society to develop new and better medicines and that we continue to break down the large stigma that still exists around mental health, through more public awareness and education.

Lundbeck is a global company highly committed to improving the quality of life of people living with psychiatric and neurological disorders. What sets us apart from other pharmaceutical companies is our dedication to CNS innovation and patients. We have been experts in the area of neuroscience for more than 70 years and we are today one of the global leaders in our fields: depression, schizophrenia, Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases.

Lundbeck’s first product was launched in China in 1996 and we have had our own presence in China since 2007. We have over the last 10 years witnessed significant improvements in the treatment and education levels in the mental health area that deserves a lot of recognition. That said, there is much more work to do to help the millions of patients affected and the treatment rates in the mental health area are still much lower than other chronic diseases such as diabetes, ischemic heart disease and pain.

As a global leader, Lundbeck is committed to contributing to more progress in the mental health area in China, and we look forward to working with all interested parties along the way. We can only make it happen through a common effort from government, enterprises, academia, experts, etc.

On behalf of Lundbeck, I want to thank you for your interest and trust deposited in our company. We will continue to do our utmost to meet patient and customer needs as we aspire to become the company that makes the biggest difference for patients living with psychiatric and neurological diseases in China.

We are Lundbeck!
