| In order to ensure a maximum commercial return on the company's highly promising late-stage pipeline, Lundbeck is setting up a new unit dedicated to completing the development and marketing of Lundbeck's new pharmaceuticals. H. Lundbeck A/S (Lundbeck) is intensifying its efforts to bring the company's new pharmaceuticals to market. Setting up a whole new unit, New Products, as of today, Lundbeck dedicates even more resources to the strategically important task of developing and commercialising the company's promising late-stage products.
The objective of the new business unit is to ensure that Lundbeck optimises the value of its highly promising late-stage pipeline, which includes the compounds Lu AA21004 and Lu AA24530 for depression and anxiety, desmoteplase for stroke, nalmefene for alcohol dependence and Serdolect for the treatment of schizophrenia.
"We enjoy the privilege of having a large number of very promising pharmaceutical candidates at advanced stages of the development process. Provided they progress through the development stage as planned, all of these compounds can cover presently unmet patient needs. Our new business unit helps to ensure that the projects are given full attention and that all necessary resources are dedicated to achieving the huge commercial potential offered by these pharmaceutical candidates," says Ulf Wiinberg, President and CEO of Lundbeck.
Lundbeck has appointed Dierk Schoch, who has so far been the company's marketing director, as head of the new business unit. After a little more than 13 years with Lundbeck, Dierk Schoch has in-depth knowledge of the company and has previously demonstrated his ability to market new pharmaceuticals.
Dierk Schoch was responsible for the marketing of Lundbeck's successful anti-Alzheimer's product Ebixa, and as marketing director he deserves a lot of the credit for the successful launches carried out by Lundbeck over the past few years.
"I'm very pleased to take up this huge and exciting challenge. Our late-stage pipeline holds great potential, and we have ample opportunity to build a solid platform on which to base Lundbeck's future," says Dierk Schoch.
In his new position, Dierk Schoch will become a member of Lundbeck's general management. He will report to Stig Løkke Pedersen, Executive Vice President, Commercial Operations.
