We are currently seeking a Chief Accountant/ IFRS 16 Project Lead acting as an independent accounting expert ensuring the delivery of all compliance & reporting processes in scope. The individual will connect, communicate and interact with employees and managers in EU regarding queries related to Finance. He/she will execute on activities and tasks identified as part of the BSC scope and serve as support/specialist towards the team, projects and external parties.

Your job and key responsibilities

As Chief Accountant you will be responsible for:

  • Performing compliance & reporting tasks in line with defined processes, SOPs and WIs
  • Support and implementation of the new leasing standard IFRS 16 across the  Lundbeck Group
  • Responsible for reviewing lease documentation and recording of required data points for adoption of IFRS 16 in a systematic, efficient and accurate manner
  • Support the development and implementation of new processes and controls that are efficient and robust at the point of adoption
  • Executing Period-End tasks for assigned unit(s), perform reconciliation and clearing of accounts, report actuals in reporting systems on timely manner and meeting quality targets
  • Acting as subject matter expert for end-to end statutory processes, ex. indirect tax filings, Statutory financial statement preparation, direct tax, drive all statutory processes for assigned business area as per agreed timelines and scope
  • With the statutory process performing quality review of deliverables from finance specialists and/or local service provider, assist in disclosure preparation, ensure smooth cooperation with local service provider/consultant and handle escalations where necessary
  • Providing support to Financial Controller in the assigned controlling tasks
  • Escalating issues and concerns to Financial Controller and Manager and propose remediating actions
  • Proactively assisting Financial Controller to identify any areas of improvement to help maximizing the efficiency and effectiveness of the processes, participate in the implementation of improvement initiatives
  • Performing updates on process documentation for assigned unit(s) and drives standardization of compliance & reporting processes
  • Leading more complex projects contributing to the strategy
  • Driving the resolution of more complex queries from the business, building good relationship with stakeholders
  • Coordinating and leading projects/improvement initiatives/knowledge management initiatives, etc. across functions
  • Mentoring for Specialists
  • Acting as backup for Financial Controller

Qualifications
Our preferred candidate has the following personal and professional qualifications:

  • Minimum 5+ years of overall combined accounting and finance experience
  • IFRS 16 knowledge is essential
  • Strong technical background and and previous experience during a similar role
  • Experience with preparing financial statements under IFRS and local standards
  • Relevant practical tax experience (indirect, direct taxes)
  • Master degree in Finance/Accounting
  • ACCA/CIMA is an advantage
  • Strong communication skills
  • Mature attitude towards challenges and problem solving - being able to work with limited guidance and able to determine information needed to resolve more complex issues, manage pressure effectively and cope well with setbacks
  • Taking ownership of assigned responsibilities, including self-learning/researching needed to execute the same
  • Being able to work to tight deadlines and with switching priorities
  • Proactive and creative in terms of improving ways of working
  • Team player
