The Division of Neurodegeneration and Biologics is looking for an experienced Protein Biochemist, highly motivated for discovering new treatments for diseases in the central nervous system.
The main responsibility of the division is to identify and validate drug targets as well as to develop cell and animal based readouts needed for compounds or biologics to be developed into drug candidates. Disciplines represented in the division range from molecular biology and biochemistry to in vivo electrophysiology and animal behavioural work.
The position will be based in the Department of Neurodegeneration – In vitro consisting of 11 scientists, 9 technicians as well as PhD and master students. The overall focus in the department is on molecular mechanisms of proteinopathies with focus on Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s Diseases.
Your job and key responsibilitiesAs a senior scientist, you will be responsible for supporting our activities with high quality protein preparations (production (in tight collaboration with the expression team), fibrillation and purification from cells and tissue) for the development of innovative cell based and in vivo models. You will also support our immunization strategies with protein preparations for immunization and clone selection as well as support our clinical programs with assay development based on protein fibrillation.
In tight collaboration with your colleagues your knowledge and expertise will support the development of treatments for diseases in the central nervous system by modulating formation, clearance and/or pathology of misfolded proteins.
