We are then looking for a qualified Scientific Advisor, Neuroscience to join the Lundbeck Canada Medical and Regulatory Affairs Department. This position is temporary full-time for a 14-month period and is located at our Head office. The employee will report to Jean Proulx, Senior Director, Medical and Regulatory Affairs.


The Scientific Advisor is responsible for providing local expert scientific advice for a broad range of activities associated with the development and
marketed products in neuroscience, for addressing gaps and advancing the scientific understanding of Lundbeck’s products, and for providing a strong
scientific advice to colleagues in order to drive future commercial success.

Patient safety: the individual is expected to immediately forward any reports of adverse events or special situations on our products as well as any
product complaints and counterfeit or suspected counterfeit medicine to Medical Information and Pharmacovigilance
( as per training on current procedures.

The Scientific Advisor, Neuroscience is responsible for:
1) Providing strategic scientific advice to maximize commercial benefits of development and marketed products in the Canadian market.
2) Ensuring transfer of scientific knowledge to the functional teams such as Regulatory, Sales & Marketing, Market Access, Medical and Medical
Science Liaison (MSL) team
3) Providing scientific leadership and support for the conduct of late phase research activities in Canada supporting product registration and for
maximizing market access opportunities.
4) Developing and nurturing scientific partnership with the Medical and Regulatory team, the cross-functional teams, Key Opinion Leaders, Clinical
Investigators, Global teams at H. Lundbeck A/S and commercial partners.


Providing strategic scientific advice to maximize commercial benefits of development and marketed products (35%)
•Contribute to the development of medical component of the brand plan and provides medical input and guidance into brand strategies
•Recommend and execute medical strategies and tactics aligned on brand objectives collaboratively with the MSL neuroscience team while ensuring
administrative follow-up on the brand related medical activity budget
•Ensure compliance to operating procedures and regulations of medical activities
•Provide medical advice, opinion and review for local regulatory and market access strategies and activities
•Assist Regulatory Affairs in the optimization of the regulatory submission content including Canadian Product Monograph to maximize product
understanding and differentiation
•Assist Market Access in the preparation and optimization of HTA and private payer submissions


Ensuring transfer of scientific knowledge to the functional teams (25%)
•Work with the brand teams to ensure the brand plans have input regarding studies, advisory boards and medical training required for the development
and marketed products
•Develop and deliver strategically aligned training to enhance product and disease knowledge across functional teams
•Collaborate with the MSL team manager to develop scientific tools required for MSL activities
•Strategically monitor new and relevant scientific literature in neuroscience and other therapeutic areas when needed
•Review promotional materials and regulatory documents for medical accuracy and compliance with operating procedures, codes and regulations.


Providing scientific leadership for the conduct of late phase research activities supporting product (15%)
•Provide expert scientific product and disease awareness and trusted leadership for new and marketed compounds by contributing to overall vision
•Provide relevant scientific support and guidance to CROs and local regulatory team during the regulatory and ethics review process of Lundbeck’s late
phase research clinical programs
•Provide local medical and scientific assessment of pipeline and in-licensed products and influence the local development towards research activities that
maximize the potential of these future assets in Canada.


Developing internal and external collaborative scientific partnership (20%)
•Foster strong and effective relationships with Canadian external experts through face to face, consultancy meetings, professional meetings and
conferences etc. to build scientific understanding and advancement around Lundbeck products collaboratively with the MSL neuroscience team
•Engage Investigators and Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) in activities in support of regulatory activities, clinical research and market access goals
•Provide input on national mapping and scientific engagement plan of Canadian KOLs in collaboration with the MSL neuroscience team
•Scientifically assess the potential of investigator-initiated studies to advance research on disease and its treatment while ensuring proper oversight and
•Advise the Senior Director, Medical and Regulatory Affairs of Lundbeck Canada and commercial partners on clinical development programs to meet
local needs.


Professional Development (5%)

Position Qualifications:
- Ph.D. or Pharm.D. or Master’s degree in Sciences or equivalent.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in Medical Affairs in Neuroscience within the Canadian pharmaceutical industry.
- Excellent knowledge of Canadian regulations.
- Knowledge of Canadian health care environment.
- Field experience in Medical Affairs (an asset).
- Strong ability to leverage scientific knowledge and manage relationships with internal and external partners.
- Bilingualism (French & English), oral and written.
- High proficiency in Windows 7 and Microsoft Office 2010.
